AORN SG Moscati in Italy has become the first public hospital to trial augmented reality (AR) healthcare solutions developed by Vection Technologies.

Vection entered into a initial trial agreement with Moscati hospital and Luiss Business School.

The trial will help integrate AR solutions in the Italian Model for Risk Management in Healthcare promoted by the business school.

Luiss Business School Executive Education and Life-Long Learning associate dean Enzo Peruffo said: “We are pleased to have signed this initial trial with Vection Technologies to introduce real-time solutions within the Italian Model for Risk Management in Healthcare.

“Augmented reality represents the key to the digital healthcare transformation, potentially transforming healthcare practices across all critical functions, from training to in-practice usage.”

During the trial, Vection’s AR Healthcare solutions will be incorporated within the Moscati hospital.

The focus will be on using AR wearable devices for real-time integration of data fields from endoscopic equipment in field of view of a surgeon.

This solution is designed to enable precise and safe AR-based navigation system when compared to standard endoscopic procedures.

Also, the trial will see real-time integration of electronic medical record system (EMRS) with AR. This is intended to provide healthcare professionals with access to medical information via AR wearable devices.

Vection Technologies managing director Gianmarco Biagi said: “This initial trial represents the culmination of a lengthy regulatory process with key public stakeholders enabling Vection Technologies to affirm itself at the forefront of the digital healthcare transformation, introducing augmented reality as a new standard in healthcare risk management.”

The company expects this agreement to form basis for long-term growth.
