Biggs Gridley Memorial Hospital in US has deployed an enterprise clinical and financial system with an electronic health record (EHR) solution from Prognosis Health Information Systems.

The move will help the hospital to meet the requirements to qualify for its share of the government’s $27bn in American Recovery and Reinvestment Act incentive funds, using ChartAccess Comprehensive EHR.

The solution provides a platform that helps community hospitals overcome the cost, speed of implementation and usability obstacles.

It will also help the hospital to avoid Medicare reimbursement penalties.

A shared web-native EHR system provides built in analytics and health information exchange capabilities, which allow consistent, high-quality patient care.

ChartAccess software applications are available as a service over an encrypted health information network. The EHR system is delivered through a cloud computing model.

Prognosis CEO Ramsey Evans said the solution not only helps hospitals that have been left on the EHR sidelines get into the game but also helps them win the game.

"Our powerful solution provides advanced functionality along with an implementation approach that makes it possible to move the needle forward by enabling improved care," Evans added.

Biggs Gridley Memorial Hospital CEO David Yarbrough said that they needed a system that would not only help meet government’s emerging requirements but also improve quality of care and operational efficiency.

"Each and every piece of data can be reported to quality initiatives and used in benchmarking initiatives to improve our performance," Yarbrough added.
