Fauquier Hospital in Warrenton, Virginia, US, has selected healthcare IT company Proficient Health to streamline its processes for physician orders and patient scheduling.

The hospital and its offsite radiology department will use the Proficient Orders and Proficient Exchange services. Faxed and paper-based physician orders can be automatically converted into electronic files that are easy to track, access and share, with the help of Proficient Orders. The system requires no change in how physicians submit the information, Proficient Health said.

Proficient Exchange will provide a web portal for entering orders and requesting patient scheduling to physicians who prefer to work online. Neither of the services require hardware or software investment and are offered as licensed online services.

Fauquier’s patient access services and health information management director and chief privacy officer Melissa Finley said that serving their physician community is a high priority. "We want to remove barriers and make it as easy as possible to do business with us," she said. She added that adopting Proficient Health solutions was also expected to support the hospital’s commitment to patient satisfaction, minimising the delays associated with lost orders.

Information from both solutions will be fed directly into Fauquier’s electronic medical records platform to populate patient files.

Proficient Health CEO Robb Hutchison said that Fauquier is a progressive organisation eager to adopt new best practices that deliver improved service to its constituencies.

Fauquier Hospital is a privately owned healthcare provider serving communities in northeast Virginia.
