Memorial Hospital at Gulfport (Memorial), a 445-bed not-for-profit health system located in Gulfport, Mississippi, has selected Health Catalyst’s Late-Binding data warehouse and analytics platform to accelerate improvements in quality and achieve more efficient overall performance.

The hospital will utilise Health Catalyst’s healthcare-specific enterprise data warehouse (EDW) and analytics applications to build on its successful quality improvement programme.

Memorial Hospital chief information officer Gene Thomas said the hospital has driven significant quality improvements over the years but it needs to analyse and understand the data it collects and build that knowledge into the decision-making process.

"We reviewed every approach on the market and selected Health Catalyst because they have a history of delivering what they say they’ll deliver, and doing it exponentially faster than anyone else," Thomas added.

Health Catalyst’s Late-Binding data warehouse and analytics platform will give Memorial Hospital clinicians a unified view of clinical and performance data from Memorial’s McKesson and Allscripts electronic health records (EHR) and other enterprise applications across the health system.

Health Catalyst CEO Dan Burton said the company is honoured to have been selected as Memorial’s data warehouse and analytics partner.

"We look forward to helping Memorial take their quality program to the next level so clinicians and administrators alike can use data and analytics to improve their overall performance and quality of care."

"We look forward to helping Memorial take their quality program to the next level so clinicians and administrators alike can use data and analytics to improve their overall performance and quality of care," Burton added.

Memorial will deploy the Health Catalyst platform with the support of HORNE’s Advanced Training Programme in Healthcare Delivery Improvement.

Health Catalyst analytics applications to be deployed initially at Memorial include Population Explorer, Patient Satisfaction Explorer, Financial Health Explorer, Readmission Explorer, Revenue Cycle Explorer, Patient Flow Explorer, Labor Management Explorer, Practice Management Explorer, Comorbidity Analyzer, Regulatory Explorer, Readmission Predictor and Executive Dashboard.

Health Catalyst’s Late-Binding data warehousing and analytics platform normalises disparate data sources and enables data access, discovery, analysis and reporting.

According to the company, the approach is faster and more agile than traditional ‘early-binding’ enterprise data warehouses, and also addresses the need for clinical analysis of near-real time information to track and improve care for whole populations of patients.

Memorial is a not-for profit medical complex in Gulfport, Mississippi, jointly owned by the City of Gulfport and Harrison County.
