Quality Systems’ wholly-owned subsidiary NextGen Healthcare Information System has connected to the Massachusetts Health Information HIway (Mass HIway), which allows for the secure exchange of patient information.
The Mass HIway is the statewide health information exchange, which facilitates the transmission of healthcare data and health information among providers, hospitals and other healthcare entities in the Massachusetts.
NextGen Healthcare offers integrated clinical, connectivity, and financial solutions, including revenue cycle management services for ambulatory, inpatient, and dental provider organisations.
NextGen Healthcare executive vice-president and general manager Michael Lovett said: "The Direct messaging connection between NextGen Healthcare and the Mass HIway clearly demonstrates our commitment to enabling the uninhibited exchange of patient data, and reaffirms our commitment to data fluidity.
"Through the deployment of NextGen Share, we are lowering the barriers to data interoperability, and the cost to do so, thereby creating the necessary communications channels to circumvent data blockers, while complying with state and federal privacy laws."
Under the partnership, providers using NextGen Share can exchange important patient information with around 350 organisations connected to the Mass HIway.

By GlobalDataAs a health information services provider (HISP) solution, NextGen Share is said to offer secure connectivity between both NextGen Healthcare and non-NextGen Healthcare providers. It supports interoperability across all certified electronic health records (EHR) vendors to exchange clinical information.
With the help of NextGen Share’s searchable provider directory and message translation between supported formats, the providers can exchange clinical data files, including consolidated-clinical document architecture (C-CDA) files and attachments, referral request letters, intake notes, and others.
