Carrus Hospitals, in Sherman, Texas, US, is set to install integrated clinical and financial solutions developed by MEDHOST.

MEDHOST’s solutions, including inpatient electronic health record (EHR) and physician documentation, will enable the hospital to streamline its transitions from paper to electronic records, while reducing its upfront capital cost.

By implementing these solutions, which can be remotely hosted and managed through MEDHOST Direct, the hospital will be able to reduce duplicate data entry and allow all care teams to access patient data in real time.

MEDHOST Direct will also streamline implementation with software updates and maintenance provided, enabling IT staff to focus on patient service and clinician support.

Carrus Hospitals CEO Jon Rains said that by implementing MEDHOST’s solutions, the hospital will be able to reduce the burden on its internal IT staff and maintain access to patient records in the event of a natural disaster or emergency.

"We have a reputation of providing excellent care, as our hospital tracks higher than the regional and national averages in rehabilitation goals, and our long-term, acute care goals are also ranked higher than the average," Rains added.

"Leveraging the MEDHOST EHR will play a strategic role in helping us maintain this level of care and as we continually strive to enhance how we care for patients."

MEDHOST president Craig Herrod said that long-term acute care facilities and rehabilitation hospitals, including Carrus Hospitals, face unique clinical and financial challenges.

"MEDHOST is proud to provide Carrus Hospitals a comprehensive solution that aligns with its business, clinical and regulatory demands and for the opportunity to be part of the organisation’s strategy to continually provide high-quality care," Herrod added.

Carrus Hospitals has two physician-owned facilities – a 16-bed long-term acute care speciality hospital and a 24-bed rehabilitation hospital.
