Torax continence restoration system wins CE mark

Torax Medical has received the CE mark for its Fenix continence restoration system.

Torax Medical has received the CE mark for its Fenix continence restoration system.

The Fenix system, a small, flexible band of interlinked titanium beads with magnetic cores, works by activating the anal sphincter muscles.

The first commercial implants in European medical centres are expected in November 2011.

Torax Medical CEO Todd Berg said that the Fenix system represents a promising new treatment option for patients suffering from faecal incontinence

”We plan to work with medical centres that specialise in the treatment of faecal incontinence as we introduce the Fenix System in European markets," Berg said.
