Ob Hospitalist Group (OBHG) is set to deploy Commure’s Autonomous Coding to support around 2,000 clinicians and more than 200 care sites in US.
The solution automates the generation of medical codes from clinical documentation such as modifiers, CPT codes, and ICD-10 diagnoses, and is intended to help coders and clinicians save time.

OBHG, which has previously used Commure’s charge capture technology, is scaling up the use of Commure Autonomous Coding across its hospitals.
Over three months, clinicians reported an 83% reduction in time spent entering charges while AI now responsible for coding more than 85% of all charges.
According to Commure, its technology disrupts the cycle of ‘familiar coding’ by detecting secondary diagnoses and specific details that may be missed with manual processes.
Within the next 12 months, OBHG intends to implement this technology at its care sites.

Autonomous Coding forms a key part of this process and increases coding speed and accuracy while maintaining a documentation-first approach.
OBHG chief medical officer Dr Mark Simon said: “At OBHG, every innovation we adopt must enhance both quality and the clinician experience. Autonomous coding helps us achieve that balance by accelerating coding accuracy while maintaining the highest standards for compliance and clinical oversight.
“It’s a powerful example of how technology can support, rather than replace, the expertise of our clinicians and strengthen the value we bring to our hospital partners.”
Last month, Commure and DRH Health collaborated to enhance clinical documentation and boost workflow efficiency, integrated with MEDITECH, across DRH Health’s care network.
