OSF HealthCare has secured approval from Illinois Health Facilities and Services Review Board in the US for its Certificate of Exemption (COE) application for changing the ownership of St Margaret’s Health–Peru Hospital.

The approval enables OSF to run the hospital as a second campus of OSF HealthCare Saint Elizabeth Medical Center, which is a 99-bed hospital situated in Ottawa, Illinois.

The hospital will offer emergency care and other inpatient services upon closing the sale of its assets from St Margaret’s Health to OSF, as well as receipt of regulatory clearances and closing of necessary on-site preparations.

Furthermore, OSF retained over 320 ex-staff of St Margaret’s Health, along with more than 50 providers such as physicians and advanced medical providers.

OSF western region CEO August Querciagrossa said: “We are excited to move forward with our preparation to open this new OSF campus as quickly as possible.

“Our goal is to preserve and sustain access to high quality, local health care for the residents of the Illinois Valley.

“Our Ministry is pleased to welcome so many former St. Margaret’s Health employees as new OSF Mission Partners.

“They know these communities so well and will help OSF going forward in continuing to serve the Illinois Valley with the greatest care and love.”

In addition, OSF purchased the former Midtown Plaza complex, Midtown Health Center and Granville Clinic, all of which were opened early this month.

Last month, OSF HealthCare announced the development of an artificial intelligence algorithm to forecast and allocate work among cancer patient navigators.
