American post-acute care services and resources network provider PruittHealth has expanded its presence in Georgia, US, with the acquisition of three Piedmont healthcare centres.

Two nursing centres are located in Augusta and one in Stockbridge, which the company already manages.

As part of this transition, Augusta Extended Care Westwood will become PruittHealth – Evans, and Piedmont Augusta Extended Care Kentwood will be renamed PruittHealth – Richmond.

The other centre Laurel Park will now be called PruittHealth – Laurel Park.

This acquisition brings the total number of PruittHealth healthcare centres in the south-east to 107.

PruittHealth chair and CEO Neil Pruitt said: “We are extremely excited to grow our ability to serve the entire Augusta community.

“We have built a strong relationship with Piedmont, and this is the next step that will allow us both to better serve the health care needs of Georgia.

“We are committed to working with them now and in the future to ensure that superior post-acute care is available in our communities.”

Following the acquisition, patients at these centres will gain access to the healthcare services offered by PruittHealth, which include palliative care, home health, hospice, and pharmacy and therapy services.

Piedmont chief development and strategy officer Jack Tillman said: “After an extensive process and search for the most appropriate new owner and operator for these three skilled nursing facilities, it was natural for us to select PruittHealth, an organisation we have known and trusted for years, to provide care for patients and our people transitioning to these facilities.”

PruittHealth serves roughly 24,000 patients daily across more than 180 locations in Georgia, Florida, Maryland, South Carolina, and North Carolina.
