Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital (RWJUH) Rahway in New Jersey, US, has deployed the da Vinci X Surgical System, a robotic technology for minimally invasive surgery.
The system provides improved visual technology and instrument control to surgeons.
It will be mainly used in general surgery, bariatrics, and urology.
Patients are expected to benefit from smaller incisions, enhanced access and visualisation, shorter recovery times, less scarring, and reduce blood loss.
This system’s instruments replicate a surgeon’s hand movements with a greater range of motion, while the 3D high-definition views offer better surgical area visualisation.
The overhead arm architecture of the system allows anatomical access from various positions, ultimately resulting in shorter surgery times.
