Select Medical and AtlantiCare have announced a joint venture (JV) agreement to own and operate a new inpatient rehabilitation facility and 13 therapy centres in the southeastern region of New Jersey, US.

Throughout the two post-acute care lines, Select Medical agreed to operate as the majority owner as well as managing partner.

Construction of the new hospital in Galloway Township will commence this year, subject to state clearances.

Select Medica hospital operations executive vice-president Tom Mullin said: “We are pleased to partner with AtlantiCare to meet the advanced and growing needs of inpatient and outpatient rehabilitative care throughout Atlantic County.

“Together, we will provide a full continuum of coordinated care built on clinical excellence, quality and outcomes that help patients heal, recover and return to community.”

Select Medical would deliver 13 outpatient physical therapy facilities, which are currently operating in the southeast region, under its NovaCare Rehabilitation brand as per the agreement.

Expected to open in 2024 or 2025, the new inpatient rehabilitation hospital will be named the Bacharach Institute for Rehabilitation.

It will serve patients healing from problems, such as amputation, severe orthopedic conditions, brain injury, spinal cord injury, stroke, and other neurological disorders.

NovaCare Rehabilitation centres currenty provide outpatient programmes and services including physical therapy, occupational therapy, hand therapy, pelvic health, sports medicine, cancer rehabilitation and more.
