St Vincent’s Melbourne and Sichuan Provincial People’s Hospital in China have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to strengthen their research partnership.
This alliance is set to launch an exchange programme aimed at improving clinical training and enhancing the quality of clinical trial ethics reviews.
The programme between St Vincent’s and Sichuan People’s Hospital will facilitate specialised training for study principal investigators and clinical training for research nurses.
This initiative is part of a broader effort to share knowledge and best practices.
In addition, the MoU will enable both hospitals to engage in joint multi-centre clinical trials, encompassing research in medical devices, pharmaceuticals, diagnostic methods, and digital solutions.
This collaboration between the hospitals is expected to accelerate research and enable the development of next-generation clinical innovations.
The strategic alliance was formalised during a delegates visit from Sichuan Provincial People’s Hospital, which included hospital presidents, clinical leaders, and directors from haematology, medical oncology, and anaesthesiology.
St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne Research director Megan Robertson said: “This Memorandum of Understanding with Sichuan Provincial People’s Hospital represents a significant step in our commitment to research excellence and sharing knowledge across borders.”
“By leveraging our combined expertise in clinical practice, the conduct of clinical trials, and ethical review, we look forward to driving innovative solutions in medical research and improving patient care on a global scale.”
