Musculoskeletal healthcare company TriasMD has expanded its presence in the US with the acquisition of Thousand Oaks Surgery Center in California.

Financial details and other terms of the transaction have not been disclosed.

The strategic acquisition will allow TriasMD’s subsidiary DISC Surgery Centers to expand its evidence-driven ambulatory surgery centre (ASC) model in California.

It will further enhance accessibility for DISC patients in the Greater Los Angeles area.

Following the acquisition, Thousand Oaks Surgery Center, which is an AAAHC-accredited and Medicare-certified facility, will soon be renamed the DISC Surgery Center at Thousand Oaks.

Thousand Oaks Surgery Center currently features four operating rooms, 11 recovery bays, five pre-op rooms, and two overnight suites designed for patients who need to complete short stays of 23 hours or less.

TriasMD highlighted that the leadership of interventional pain management specialist Dr Alexander Hersel has helped the facility to become a hub for ambulatory surgical care in various specialities.

Some of the specialities include pain management, spine, otolaryngology, orthopaedics, plastic surgery, and podiatry.

With the latest transaction, TriasMD has now become a majority partner and will work in partnership with Hersel to improve complex spine and orthopaedic services and expand patient access through partnerships with payors.

Hersel added: “Becoming part of the TriasMD model means we will not only augment the services our ASC provides, but we will do it with a vision I have long embraced, one where physicians are empowered to thrive in a competitive, consolidated market while patients ultimately receive the best care.”

TriasMD also plans to recruit more skilled spine and orthopaedic surgeons and invest in new equipment such as the Zeiss microscope and spine instrumentation.

This investment underscores TriasMD’s commitment to delivering superior care and experiences while aiming to reduce healthcare costs.

TriasMD CEO James Becker said: “We are excited to partner with him to elevate advanced spine care in the greater Conejo Valley region, bringing patients a convenient and trusted choice for their comprehensive musculoskeletal needs.”
