Mid State Orthopaedic & Sports Medicine Center and US Orthopaedic Partners (USOP) have commenced construction on an ambulatory surgery centre (ASC) in Alexandria, Louisiana, US, with a planned opening in August 2026.

This development aims to improve access to orthopaedic care and surgical efficiency while also offering a cost-effective solution compared to traditional hospital settings.

The ASC will have eight operating suites, which include two dedicated procedure rooms. It is set to incorporate robotic-assisted surgical technology, as well as advanced C-arm imaging.

Additionally, an in-house MRI suite will replace the current mobile unit, upgrading diagnostic services.

The centre’s design is expected to streamline patient flow, minimise complications, and optimise surgical outcomes by implementing USOP’s operational expertise and best practices.

USOP CEO Steve Holtzclaw said: “This ASC is a testament to the power of USOP’s model, giving independent orthopaedic groups the resources and expertise to build high-performance surgery centres that deliver world-class care.

“By investing in cutting-edge ASCs like this one, we’re setting new standards for orthopaedic surgery, improving efficiency for practices, and reducing costs for patients.”

The ASC model developed by USOP is designed to increase revenue for partner practices while simultaneously lessening patient costs by transferring complex procedures out of hospital environments.

The project will allow Mid State Orthopaedic to provide outpatient total joint replacements within a dedicated ASC environment and participate in bundled payment programmes.

Patients at the new facility can expect a concierge-level surgical experience, with tailored, ‘white-glove’ service.

In addition to the surgical facilities, the ASC’s design includes two new clinic halls to address current capacity issues and facilitate future expansion.

The project is also anticipated to generate approximately 30 new jobs.
