Adtalem Global Education has announced a partnership with Google Cloud to introduce an AI credentials programme tailored for healthcare professionals.
This programme aims to benefit practising clinicians and students within Adtalem's institutions and affiliated health systems, with a launch scheduled for 2026.
The partnership will provide Adtalem with Google Cloud's AI-optimised technology stack, which offers a compliant, scalable, and secure infrastructure solution for managing sensitive healthcare data.
This stack incorporates Vertex AI, Gemini, and Google's AI models to create a practical AI curriculum that ensures students gain the in-demand skills necessary to foster innovation in the healthcare sector.
Adtalem Global Education chief digital officer Michael Betz said: “We're moving at the speed healthcare demands. This partnership with Google Cloud gives our students a competitive edge in their careers - whether they're treating patients, providing mental health counselling or leading healthcare teams.
“Our graduates will enter the workforce confident in using AI to enhance their clinical decisions, spend less time on paperwork and more time connecting with patients.”
The programme will expand across Adtalem's institutions, including American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine, Walden University, Chamberlain University, Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine, and Ross University School of Medicine, serving over 91,000 students.
Participants will undertake specialised coursework that encompasses AI applications in practical experience, patient safety protocols, and ethical considerations with healthcare-specific AI tools.
Healthcare professionals pursuing continuing education can enrol in the AI credentials programme offered by Adtalem institutions.
The programme features flexible coursework designed to accommodate the schedules of practising clinicians, equipping them with practical, job-ready skills.
Google Public Sector vice-president Brent Mitchell said: “To unlock the true potential of AI in healthcare, we must empower the clinicians who use it.
“By partnering with Adtalem, we're ensuring that both future and current healthcare professionals have the specialised knowledge to implement AI tools safely, responsibly and effectively in clinical practice.”
