Baptist Health International (BHI) and the Cayman Islands Health Services Authority (CIHSA) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for improving healthcare delivery.

The agreement aims to enhance healthcare services in the Cayman Islands by expanding educational opportunities, clinical training, and advisory services.

The MOU outlines primary goals such as the expansion of observer programmes scope, enhancing academic and educational activities for CIHSA staff, and promotion of multidisciplinary peer discussions and consultations.

CIHSA CEO Lizzette Yearwood said: "BHI and CIHSA have a longstanding relationship built on mutual respect and a commitment to advancing healthcare standards.

"This MOU underscores our shared dedication to advancing continuous improvement and innovation in healthcare delivery, as well as to expanding collaborative opportunities that benefit both our organisations and the broader community."

BHI, which is part of Baptist Health South Florida, specialises in healthcare management, education, and research.

The partnership with CIHSA is part of BHI's strategy to share knowledge, implement best practices, and enhance healthcare outcomes in the region.

CIHSA, which is accredited by the Joint Commission International, offers a range of healthcare services, including 24-hour accident and emergency care, maternity services, specialised diagnostic services and dialysis.

Baptist Health International corporate vice-president Dr Rogelio Ribas said: “BHI is honoured to formalise our partnership with CIHSA through this MOU, which marks a significant milestone in our collaborative journey towards advancing healthcare excellence in the Caribbean.

“We look forward to working closely with CIHSA to achieve our mutual goals of enhancing patient care and fostering professional development."

BHI is a hospital-based international programme in the US.
