Peru’s Social Security System EsSalud has formally secured the construction licence for the Torre Trecca outpatient treatment facility, set to be rebuilt and operated by healthcare provider Auna.

Auna will operate the high-rise centre under an existing public–private partnership (PPP), on behalf of EsSalud.

Torre Trecca is anticipated to cater to over six million individuals in Lima insured by EsSalud, facilitating more than three million visits each year.

The delivery of the licence was commemorated at an event that included the attendance of EsSalud executive president Segundo Acho Mego, ProInversión executive director Luis Del Carpio, Auna vice-chairman Luis Felipe Pinillos, and Jesús María district mayor Jesús Gálvez.

ProInversión is a Peruvian government agency and aims to promote private investment.

Initially in 2010, Auna entered the PPP with EsSalud to reconstruct and manage Torre Trecca. The official issuance of the construction licence marks a crucial milestone in upgrading this healthcare establishment.

The revised PPP contract is anticipated to gain final approval by the end of this year, with construction scheduled to commence in 2026.

Auna aims to enhance access to quality healthcare services for the people of Lima. This milestone underscores the advancements made through the partnership between EsSalud and ProInversión.

Founded in 1989, Auna is a healthcare platform operating in Colombia, Mexico, and Peru, and focuses on complex illnesses and preventative measures that incur significant healthcare costs.

Its network consisted of 31 healthcare facilities with a total of 2,333 beds, as of 30 June 2025.

In March 2025, Auna expanded its oncology services in Mexico through a five-year exclusive agreement with Opción Oncología, an oncology ambulatory clinic based in Monterrey.
