At the centre of the redevelopment is the new Clinical Services Building.

Australia’s New South Wales (NSW) Government has announced the completion of the A$250m ($161.12m) Griffith Base Hospital redevelopment.

This investment aims to enhance healthcare services for residents of Griffith and the surrounding communities.

NSW health minister Ryan Park said: “The purpose-built Clinical Services Building will bring all major health services together under one roof, transforming the experience for patients, carers, and staff.”

At the centre of the redevelopment is the new Clinical Services Building, which is complemented by an expanded emergency department, maternity and medical inpatient unit, and specialist clinics.

The Griffith Base Hospital redevelopment introduces a range of new and improved services.

These encompass a broadened medical imaging department, a new day surgery unit, additional inpatient beds, mobile cardiac monitoring units, and enhanced technology across the facility.

The hospital's expanded facilities also include an emergency department, an intensive care unit (ICU), and three palliative care rooms.

A broadened perioperative unit offers one procedure room and two theatres.

The ambulatory care facilities have also been expanded, providing the community with better access to a broader range of specialist clinics such as cancer care, rehabilitation, and Hospital in the Home services, which will improve outpatient services.

Preparing the new building for operation is currently underway. This encompasses incorporating furniture, fixtures, and equipment, along with training and staff orientation, finishing clinical cleaning, and stocking medical consumables.

The announcement follows the recent launch of a new urgent care service in Quakers Hill by the NSW government, designed to offer non-emergency healthcare and reduce unnecessary visits to hospital emergency departments.
