Johnson & Johnson (J&J) has received the CE Mark for its ACUVUE OASYS MAX 2-Week, a new reusable contact lens featuring MAX technologies.
The lens is set to launch in select European countries later this year, with a broader rollout planned for 2027 and 2028, subject to regulatory approvals and market conditions.
J&J states that comfort and visual clarity remain significant factors for those choosing contact lenses, especially as daily exposure to digital devices and blue-violet light increases.
These trends place added demands on users’ eyes, which may lead to discomfort and reduced clarity.
The ACUVUE OASYS MAX 2-Week lens reportedly incorporates technologies to address these challenges.
Features include the OptiBlue Light Filter, which filters at least 60% of blue-violet light, TearStable Technology aimed at maintaining eye moisture, and Class 1 UV blocking to help shield eyes from radiation, including sunlight.
The technologies combine to support vision clarity during activities such as digital device use, outdoor pursuits, and night driving.
For practitioners, J&J designed the lens to be compatible with the existing fitting process used for ACUVUE OASYS 2-Week lenses.
J&J MedTech vision company group chair Jacqueline Henderson said: “People who choose reusable contact lenses should not have to compromise on comfort or clarity as their days get busier and their eyes work harder.
“With ACUVUE OASYS MAX 2-Week, we are bringing our most advanced ACUVUE technologies to a reusable lens, helping more people see clearly and feel comfortable throughout the full two-week wear cycle.”
ACUVUE OASYS MAX 2-Week forms part of the ACUVUE OASYS MAX contact lens portfolio, which is intended to offer advanced options for reusable lens users.
In July, J&J secured approval from the US Food and Drug Administration for its Dual Energy Thermocool Smarttouch SF Platform.
