MUSC Health and Baxter have entered a multi-year partnership to advance the use of connected care technologies in nursing, aiming to enhance patient care delivery.

The partnership will combine Baxter’s healthcare solutions with MUSC Health’s academic and clinical expertise.

It seeks to boost nurse retention and satisfaction, raise safety and quality standards, and serve as a platform for new approaches such as automating nursing workflows. The partners also intend to share best practices that can be scaled throughout the healthcare sector.

The partnership aims to unify bedside technologies to minimise the time spent on documentation, improve communication among staff, and enable smooth data sharing between different systems.

Furthermore, it will improve nurse satisfaction by minimising administrative duties, strengthening quality and safety through the use of real-time data and advanced monitoring tools, and supporting nursing education via joint programmes.

MUSC Health CEO Patrick Cawley said: “This partnership represents a shared commitment to supporting our nurses — who are the backbone of patient care — with the tools, technology and training they need to thrive.

"Together with Baxter, we are building a model that will not only impact the day-to-day experience for our caregivers but also further enhance the exceptional care we provide to patients across the state.”

Baxter Healthcare Systems & Technologies segment executive vice-president and group president Reaz Rasul said: “Continuously improving the experiences of care teams with our connected technologies and services is at the core of Baxter’s vision to redefine healthcare delivery.

“We are honoured to partner with MUSC Health to help create scalable, innovative solutions that further support improved care outcomes and help nurses focus on what matters most: patient care.”

In May 2025, Glytec entered a partnership with MUSC Health to improve diabetes and glycaemic management across the latter’s hospital network.
