PDS Health subsidiary PDS Health Technologies has partnered with the University of Michigan (U-M) School of Dentistry in the US for implementing a customised instance of the Epic electronic health records (EHR) system.
The collaboration aims to align oral and overall health through clinical practice, technology and education.
PDS Health Technologies will deploy Epic Community Connect at U-M as the university is seeking a solution that would bridge classroom instruction with clinical practice while supporting a cohesive, whole-person care approach.
Epic will serve as a platform designed for dental workflows. It enhances access to comprehensive patient information and fosters better collaboration between medical practitioners and oral health.
Additionally, the platform provides revenue cycle alignment, real-time interoperability, and clinical performance with medical records.
It is utilised by healthcare organisations and academic institutions across various states.
At U-M, the system is intended to improve experiential and collaborative learning. Under the guidance of the university's faculty, researchers, and clinicians, and with the assistance of administrative and IT teams, residents and dental students will be able to access patient information.
This will facilitate referral coordination and integrated treatment planning, as well as foster a learning environment centred around patient care.
The collaboration paves way for future initiatives, including advanced diagnostics, clinical research, and population health, promoting the integration of dental and medical practices within both clinical and academic settings.
