Ping An Insurance Company of China (Ping An) has opened its first self-operated rehabilitation hospital in Shenzhen, China, marking a key advancement in rehabilitation services for the Greater Bay Area.
Operated by Ping An subsidiary PKU Healthcare Group, the Shenzhen Beiyi Rehabilitation Hospital aims to serve up to 100,000 patients a year, offering a comprehensive range of acute and critical rehabilitation to chronic home services.
The hospital addresses Shenzhen’s rising demand for specialised rehabilitation, with a team covering six core specialities that includes paediatrics, orthopaedics and joints, spinal cord injury, geriatrics, pain management, and neurology.
It employs an “AI + precision rehabilitation” model, incorporating advanced equipment such as 3D posture and gait analysis systems and exoskeleton robots.
Ping An claims that the opening of the hospital is in line with the national "Healthy China" initiative and enhances Ping An's comprehensive "insurance + rehabilitation + elderly care" model.
It serves as a complement to the northern establishment, PKUCare Rehabilitation Hospital, fostering collaboration throughout Shenzhen and the Greater Bay Area.
The hospital collaborates with Ping An’s insurance and senior care businesses to develop an integrated “insurance + rehabilitation + senior care” model.
Linked to Ping An Health Insurance's direct payment system, the hospital enables customers with “seamless in-hospital payment” and aims to integrate national medical insurance and international commercial insurance for easier claims processing.
The hospital works in close coordination with the "Ping An Zhen Yi Nian" experience centre to offer comprehensive services that encompass home care, community support, post-hospital care, and hospital care.
In future, the expertise gained from operating the Shenzhen Beiyi Rehabilitation Hospital is anticipated to bolster Ping An's home-based elderly care services and improve its senior care ecosystem.
By the end of September 2025, Ping An had formed partnerships with more than 37,000 hospitals and close to 241,000 pharmacies across China.
Its PKU Healthcare Group comprises two specialised rehabilitation hospitals, six general hospitals and 14 health management centres.
