Quest Diagnostics has completed the acquisition of an outreach lab services business from University Hospitals, an academic medical centre and non-profit health system, to expand its services in Ohio, US.

This acquisition is set to enhance access to Quest's test menu and its network of patient access sites across the region.

Quest is known for its role across the healthcare ecosystem, delivering diagnostic insights that help improve health outcomes.

Annually, the company serves one in three adult Americans and half of the physicians and hospitals in the US.

The company's diagnostic insights are derived from a database of de-identifiable clinical lab results, which contribute to the identification and treatment of diseases, the promotion of healthy behaviours, and the enhancement of healthcare management.

Quest's laboratories in Twinsburg, Ohio; and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania will now perform lab services testing for University Hospitals' providers and patients.

University Hospitals will maintain all inpatient and select outpatient testing within its labs.

Established in 1866, it caters to patient needs through a network comprising more than 20 hospitals, more than 50 health centres and facilities for outpatients, and over 200 physician offices across 16 northern Ohio counties.

The main campus is affiliated with multiple institutions such as Northeast Ohio Medical University, Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, Oxford University, Taiwan University and the Technion Israel Institute of Technology.

The definitive agreement for Quest to acquire select assets of University Hospitals' outreach laboratory services business was sealed in August 2024.

Last month, Quest launched one-on-one health coaching on questhealth.com to help individuals take control of their health.
