Remedy Robotics has joined forces with the Australian Stroke Alliance for introducing endovascular care to hospitals in the country.

The Australian Stroke Alliance is a consortium that represents more than 40 private and government organisations dedicated to transforming stroke care.

It has chosen Remedy Robotics as its exclusive robotics partner to improve access to prompt stroke intervention.

Remedy Robotics will collaborate with the alliance to obtain regulatory approval and implement its system in Australian hospitals.

Remedy Robotics CEO and co-founder Dr David Bell said: “Partnering with the Australian Stroke Alliance and their world-leading clinical experts is a major step toward delivering rapid endovascular care to stroke and cardiovascular patients in Australia and worldwide.

“By combining Remedy's breakthrough technology with the alliance's vision for stroke care, we're accelerating access to life-saving technology for Australian patients and hospitals.

"Together, we're redefining what's possible in stroke and cardiovascular care when time to treatment is the single most important factor in determining outcomes.”

One in four Australians will reportedly suffer a stroke during their lifetime, resulting in over 8,000 fatalities annually.

Furthermore, 65% of survivors are left with lifelong disabilities. Endovascular thrombectomy, a procedure designed to remove blood clots from the brain, is regarded as the standard treatment for emergencies related to cardiovascular issues.

Due to its complexity and the associated complications risk, endovascular thrombectomy is available only at selected specialist hospitals located in metropolitan areas.

Australian Stroke Alliance co-chairs Professor Stephen Davis and Professor Geoffrey Donnan said: “Partnering with Remedy Robotics allows us to reimagine what's possible and bring expert stroke intervention to people in rural and remote communities, without delay.

"This collaboration is a step toward closing disparities in outcomes between rural and urban Australians while saving lives across the continent."
