Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in Canada has selected Oracle Health as its technology vendor of choice for a new AI-driven electronic health record (EHR) system, aimed at improving patient and caregiver experiences.
The AI-powered platform aims to improve clinical insight and care coordination across facilities, delivering more integrated patient experiences at the academic health sciences centre.
Sunnybrook operates trauma and burn centres in Canada and a veterans' care facility.
The organisation needed a solution to synchronise operations across campuses, enabling clinical trainees, clinicians, and staff to collaborate on treatment plans and streamline workflows.
The Oracle Health EHR will provide a complete view of patient health journeys.
Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre president and CEO Dr Andy Smith said: “At Sunnybrook, our commitment to delivering exceptional, compassionate care is matched by our pursuit of innovation that advances health outcomes for our community and people across Ontario.
“Leveraging Oracle Health technology to integrate our health records will transform the quality and experience for both patients as well as our healthcare teams. Having data readily available will also further strengthen our research infrastructure and clinical trial capabilities.”
The implementation consolidates several health information systems into a single AI-driven platform.
This reduces manual documentation and aids in streamlined communication among clinicians, enabling seamless sharing of patient information.
Oracle Health vice-president and Canada market leader Erin O'Halloran said: “We are honoured to team with Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre to continue their provision of safe, efficient, high-quality patient care through the use of innovative, AI-fuelled technologies.
“With an integrated health information system, we are supporting Sunnybrook to achieve their mission to care for patients and families when it matters most.”
Last month, Oracle Health launched its AI Centre of Excellence for Healthcare to support healthcare organisations in leveraging the latest AI advancements.
