Texas Children’s Hospital deploys Oracle’s Cloud applications

The technology is expected to improve worker retention and reduce expenses.

Texas Children's Hospital in Houston, Texas, has brought together seven business systems into one integrated platform by deploying Oracle's Oracle Fusion Cloud Applications.

By moving to the Cloud for its finance, human resources and supply chain processes, the hospital aims to break down silos in business and simplify its operations.

The applications are also expected to improve worker retention and reduce expenses.

Oracle said the hospital's use of the platform will allow it to standardise processes.

Oracle applications development executive vice-president Steve Miranda said: “Recent events pushed the world’s largest industry to a near breaking point and highlighted the challenges of running countless disconnected systems.

“With Oracle Fusion Applications, Texas Children’s Hospital has been able to increase visibility into its business and reduce the administrative burden on its employees.”

Texas Children’s Hospital executive vice-president and chief information innovation officer Myra Davis said: “Our previous systems required a lot of manual effort to use and maintain and this was becoming an unsustainable burden on our employees.

“With Oracle Fusion Applications, we’ve been able to streamline and automate business processes and this allows our staff and clinicians to spend more time with patients.”

Texas Children's Hospital is an acute care women's and children's hospital with a bed capacity of more than 970.

Last month, the hospital successfully separated conjoined twins following a complex surgery.

The twins had been in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) for more than four months since being born on 1 March.

In the same month, the hospital launched an urgent care clinic in Sugar Land, its 11th in the region.

The Texas Children’s Urgent Care facility is part of the US' largest paediatric clinic network and aims to offer quality and affordable care in convenient community locations.

It will provide care for children and young adults aged up to 18 years.
