Healthcare Practitioners and Technical Occupations drive cybersecurity-related hiring activity
Healthcare Practitioners and Technical Occupations, with a share of 18%, emerged as the top cybersecurity-related job roles within the healthcare industry in Q4 2023, with new job postings drop by 23% quarter-on-quarter. Computer and Mathematical Occupations came in second with a share of 13% in Q4 2023, with new job postings dropping by 21% over the previous quarter.
The other prominent cybersecurity roles include Healthcare Support Occupations with an 11% share in Q4 2023, Protective Service Occupations with a 11% share of new job postings.
Top five companies in healthcare industry accounted for 40% of hiring activity
The top companies, in terms of number of new job postings tracked by GlobalData, as of Q4 2023 were Albany Medical Center, Western Maryland Health System, Prime Healthcare Services, Virtua Health, and Spire Healthcare Group. Together they accounted for a combined share of 40% of all cybersecurity-related new jobs in the healthcare industry.
Albany Medical Center posted 347 cybersecurity-related new jobs in Q4 2023, Western Maryland Health System 192 jobs, Prime Healthcare Services 106 jobs, Virtua Health 100 jobs, and Spire Healthcare Group 74 jobs, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics.
Hiring activity was driven by the US with an 89.18% share of total new job postings, Q4 2023
The largest share of cybersecurity-related new job postings in the healthcare industry in Q4 2023 was in the US with 89.18% followed by the UK (6.76%) and Canada (1.22%). The share represented by the US was 0 percentage points higher than the 89.12% share it accounted for in Q3 2023.
