Healthcare Practitioners and Technical Occupations drive environmental sustainability-related hiring activity

Healthcare Practitioners and Technical Occupations, with a share of 25%, emerged as the top environmental sustainability-related job roles within the healthcare industry in Q1 2023, with new job postings drop by 7% quarter-on-quarter. Healthcare Support Occupations came in second with a share of 13% in Q1 2023, with new job postings rising by 13% over the previous quarter.

The other prominent environmental sustainability roles include Life, Physical, and Social Science Occupations with an 8% share in Q1 2023, Building and Grounds Cleaning and Maintenance Occupations with a 8% share of new job postings.

Top five companies in healthcare industry accounted for 20% of hiring activity

The top companies, in terms of number of new job postings tracked by GlobalData, as of Q1 2023 were Houston Methodist Hospital, DaVita, Memorial Health System, Allina Health, and Amedisys. Together they accounted for a combined share of 20% of all environmental sustainability-related new jobs in the healthcare industry.

Houston Methodist Hospital posted 3,375 environmental sustainability-related new jobs in Q1 2023, DaVita 971 jobs, Memorial Health System 949 jobs, Allina Health 948 jobs, and Amedisys 640 jobs, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics.

Hiring activity was driven by the US with an 88.26% share of total new job postings, Q1 2023

The largest share of environmental sustainability-related new job postings in the healthcare industry in Q1 2023 was in the US with 88.26% followed by the UK (4.05%) and Canada (2.18%). The share represented by the US was two percentage points higher than the 85.93% share it accounted for in Q4 2022.
