Healthcare Practitioners and Technical Occupations, with a share of 40%, was the occupation with the greatest hiring activity in the global healthcare industry in Q4 2023, ahead of Healthcare Support Occupations with a 13% share of job postings.

The other prominent roles include Office and Administrative Support Occupations with a 6% share in Q4 2023, Management Occupations with a 32% share and Life, Physical, and Social Science Occupations with a 3% share of new job postings.

Top five companies in healthcare industry accounted for 21% of hiring activity

The top five companies, in terms of number of new job postings tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined 21% share of the overall hiring activity in the global healthcare industry in Q4 2023.

CVS Health posted 27,982 jobs in Q4 2023 and registered a drop of 30% over the previous quarter, followed by Tenet Healthcare with 10,488 jobs and a 49% growth. Universal Health Services with 9,508 jobs and Providence Health & Services with 7,102 jobs, recorded a 21% decline and 0.85% drop, respectively, while Advocate Aurora Health recorded a 25% drop with 7,089 job postings during Q4 2023.

Hiring activity was driven by North America with a 94% share of total new job postings, Q4 2023

North America held the leading share of the new job postings in the global healthcare industry with a 94% share, a 4% higher over Q3 2023. Europe stood next with 5%, registering a 67% decline over the previous quarter.

Asia-Pacific with 0.79% share marked a 30% drop over Q3 2023. The Middle East & Africa and South & Central America accounted for shares of 80% and 61% respectively.
