The global healthcare industry noticed a 17.9% rise in IT hiring activity in February 2021 over the previous month, led by Accenture’s 34.57% share, according to GlobalData’s Jobs Analytics database.
The healthcare industry’s overall hiring activity increased 6.04% when compared with January 2021.
Noticeably, IT jobs accounted for an 8.06% share of the global healthcare industry’s hiring activity in February 2021, up 1.48% over the last three-month average share.
According to GlobalData, IT job opportunities available at the end of February 2021 were 16.06% higher compared with the previous month.
The increase was a result of 25.6% lower job postings as compared to job closures during the month.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers drive healthcare IT hiring activity
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers with a share of 72.38% emerged as the top IT occupation in the healthcare hiring activity in February 2021, a 24.77% increase over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in second with a share of 10.39% in February 2021, up 28.86% over the previous month.
The other prominent IT roles include Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with a 6.8% share in February 2021, increase of 13.54% over the previous month, and Computer and Information Analysts with a 4.59% share in February 2021 and rise of 11.73% over January 2021.
Top five healthcare companies by recruitment activity in February 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average increase of 30.76% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of global healthcare industry during February 2021 over January 2021.
Accenture posted 7,252 IT jobs in February 2021 and registered a rise of 27.21% over the previous month, followed by International Business Machines with 3,550 jobs and a 43.55% rise. Oracle with 1,661 IT jobs and Cisco Systems with 640 jobs, recorded a 31.1% increase and a 2.4% growth, respectively, while DXC Technology recorded a 45.34% growth with 593 job postings during February 2021.
Regional composition of IT hiring in healthcare industry
Asia-Pacific emerged as the leading region in the global healthcare IT hiring activity in February 2021 with a 57.29% share, which marked a 31.1% growth over the previous month.
North America stood next with 28.8%, registering a 10.82% month-on-month increase. Europe was the third leading region with an 11.09% share and a 16.53% rise over January 2021.
In the fourth place was South & Central America with a share of 1.46% and a month-on-month growth of 4.42%. Middle East & Africa stood at the bottom of the table with a share of 1.35%, registering an 86.18% increase over the previous month.
