The top five companies accounted for 12% of patenting activity
Analysis of patenting activity by companies shows that Koninklijke Philips filed the most smart hospitals patents within the healthcare industry in Q2 2024. The company filed 125 smart hospitals-related patents in the quarter, compared with 100 in the previous quarter. It was followed by Johnson & Johnson with 106 smart hospitals patent filings, Abbott Laboratories (55 filings), and Medtronic (50 filings) in Q2 2024.
Patenting activity was driven by China with a 32% share of total patent filings
