South & Central America’s healthcare industry IT hiring activity drops 4.8% in August 2021

South & Central America witnessed a 4.8% drop in IT hiring activity in the healthcare industry in August 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics dashboard.

August 2021 has seen a decrease of 4.05% in the overall hiring activity when compared with July 2021.

IT jobs accounted for an 18.75% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in August 2021, registering a decrease of 1.56% over the last three-month average share.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in August 2021

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in South & Central America with a share of 64.34% in August 2021, a 25.53% drop over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 12.87% in August 2021, marking a 30% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with a share of 8.46% in August 2021, a 37.84% drop from July 2021.

Computer Support Specialists registered a share of 7.35% in August 2021, a 42.86% rise over the previous month.

Top five healthcare companies in South & Central America’s IT recruitment activity in August 2021

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 28.78% in the overall IT recruitment activity of South & Central America’s healthcare industry during August 2021 over previous month.

International Business Machines posted 107 IT jobs in August 2021 and registered a decline of 36.31% over the previous month, followed by Fiserv with 33 jobs and a 6.45% growth. Conduent with 22 IT jobs and AIA Group with 19 jobs, recorded a 29.41% rise and a 52.5% drop, respectively, while Accenture recorded a 22.73% decline with 17 job postings during August 2021.

Country-wise composition of IT hiring in South & Central America’s healthcare industry

Brazil commanded a leading presence in the region’s healthcare industry IT hiring activity with a 41.18% share in August 2021, a 33.33% increase over July 2021. Costa Rica featured next with a 23.16% share, flat growth over the previous month. Argentina recorded a 10.66% share, a drop of 25.64% compared with July 2021.

Junior Level job postings dominate in August 2021

Junior Level jobs held a share of 79.04%, down by 6.11% from July 2021. Entry Level positions with a 12.87% share, registered a growth of 25% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Mid Level job ads with an 8.09% share, down 74.12% over July 2021.
