The city of Las Vegas is home to seven of Nevada’s ten largest general hospitals. Of the state’s remaining top three hospitals, two are in Reno and one is in Henderson.

Hospital Management has listed Nevada’s top ten largest hospitals based on numbers of beds as of last year, using GlobalData’s research.

1. Renown Regional Medical Centre – 808 beds

The Renown Regional Medical Centre in Reno is Nevada’s largest hospital, with 808 inpatient beds. It is the flagship hospital campus of non-profit healthcare network Renown Health.

Affiliated with the University of Nevada Reno School of Medicine, the multi-speciality teaching hospital is designated as a Level II trauma centre. It is also home to the Renown Children’s Hospital, the only full-service paediatric hospital in northern Nevada.

Renown Regional Medical Centre handles more than 80,000 emergency visits, performs more than 28,000 surgeries and delivers more than 4,000 babies each year. It is rated as high-performing in adult procedures and conditions related to heart and kidney failure, colon cancer surgery, diabetes, maternity care, stroke management and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

2. Sunrise Hospital and Medical Centre – 762 beds

The Sunrise Hospital and Medical Centre in Las Vegas is the second largest hospital in Nevada, with 762 inpatient beds. It is the flagship campus of Sunrise Health System, an affiliate of multi-state healthcare company HCA Healthcare.

The University Medical Centre of Southern Nevada in Las Vegas is a 541-bed non-profit government hospital and academic medical centre affiliated with the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV).

The full-service acute care facility is designated as Nevada’s only Level I trauma centre. It is also home to the state’s only verified burn care, transplant and paediatric trauma centre.

University Medical Centre of Southern Nevada is rated as high-performing in adult procedures and conditions related to heart attack and failure, stroke management, COPD and pneumonia. 4. Summerlin Hospital Medical Centre – 485 beds

The Summerlin Hospital Medical Centre is a 485-bed general medical and surgical facility in Las Vegas, Nevada. It is the largest hospital of The Valley Health System, a network of six acute care hospitals in southern Nevada that are owned and operated by Pennsylvania-based company Universal Health Services.

Operational since 1997, the full-service acute care hospital specialises in cancer, cardiovascular, orthopaedic, women’s and children’s health, and emergency care among other clinical areas. 5. MountainView Hospital – 425 beds

The MountainView Hospital in Las Vegas is a general acute care facility and teaching hospital with 425 licensed beds. It is owned and operated by Sunrise Health, an affiliate of HCA Healthcare.
