The hospital is designated as a Level I trauma centre and is recognised for clinical excellence in the areas of cancer, cardiovascular, women’s and children’s care, as well as minimally invasive heart surgery and organ transplantation.

It is one of the 12 acute care hospitals operated by RWJBarnabas Health in the US state. The hospital is certified as the state’s only burns centre, as well as a regional perinatal centre housing a Level III neonatal intensive care unit (NICU).
