The city of Florence is home to two of South Carolina’s ten largest general hospitals. The state’s remaining top eight hospitals are located in Greenville, Charleston, Columbia, West Columbia, Spartanburg, Anderson, Myrtle Beach and Greenwood.

1. Prisma Health Greenville Memorial Hospital – 864 beds
The Prisma Health Greenville Memorial Hospital in Greenville is South Carolina’s largest hospital, with 864 licensed beds. This includes 746 acute care beds, 65 psychiatric beds and 53 rehabilitation beds.
The multi-speciality teaching hospital is affiliated with the University of South Carolina School of Medicine Greenville and operated by the state’s largest non-profit healthcare system, Prisma Health. The facility is also home to the Prisma Health Children’s Hospital-Upstate and recognised as a Level I trauma and comprehensive stroke centre.

The MUSC Health University Medical Center is a 709-bed tertiary teaching hospital located in Charleston, South Carolina. It is the flagship hospital campus of MUSC Health, the clinical health system of the Medical University of South Carolina.
