Canada’s healthcare industry registered a 1.8% drop in IT hiring activity in September 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring increased by 3.66% in September 2021 when compared with August 2021.

Out of the healthcare industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 9.26% share in September 2021, recording an increase of 0.02% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in Canada’s healthcare industry’s IT recruitment activity in September 2021

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 100.68% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada’s healthcare industry in September 2021.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 65.53% in September 2021, registering a 5.85% decline over the previous month.

2) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations claimed a 13.07% share, an increase of 37.5% over the previous month.

3) Database and Network Administrators and Architects held a share of 9.17%, registering an 11.48% decline from August 2021.

4) Computer and Information Analysts captured a share of 8.83%, up 13.04% over the previous month.

Top five healthcare companies in Canada’s IT recruitment activity in September 2021

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 1.2% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada’s healthcare industry during September 2021 over August 2021.

Cognizant Technology Solutions posted 152 IT jobs in September 2021 and registered a drop of 12.14% over the previous month, followed by Desjardins Group with 77 jobs and a 57.14% growth. International Business Machines with 41 IT jobs and Intelerad Medical Systems with 38 jobs, recorded a 13.89% flat growth and a 5% decrease, respectively, while Power Financial recorded a decline of 17.14% with 29 job postings during September 2021.

Junior Level job postings dominate in September 2021

Junior Level jobs held a share of 58.57%, down by 3.63% from August 2021. Mid Level positions with a 30.39% share, registered an increase of 7.83% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 10.53% share, up 6.9% over August 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 0.51%, recording a month-on-month increase of 50%.
