Canada’s healthcare industry registered an 11.9% drop in IT hiring activity in September 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 16.77% in September 2022 when compared with August 2022.

Out of the healthcare industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 0.95% share in September 2022, recording an increase of 0.02% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in Canada’s healthcare industry’s IT recruitment activity in September 2022

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 100% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada’s healthcare industry in September 2022.

1) Computer and Information Analysts recorded a share of 58% in September 2022, registering a 38.1% growth over the previous month.

2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed an 18% share, an increase of 50% over the previous month.

3) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations held a share of 12%, registering a 20% rise from August 2022.

4) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers captured a share of 10%, down 44.44% over the previous month.

Top five healthcare companies in Canada’s IT recruitment activity in September 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 6.82% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada’s healthcare industry during September 2022 over August 2022.

Alberta Health Services posted 36 IT jobs in September 2022 and registered a rise of 12.5% over the previous month, followed by Vancouver Coastal Health with 5 jobs and a 16.67% drop. McKesson with 3 IT jobs and Mackenzie Health with 2 jobs, recorded a 40% decline and a 100% growth, respectively, while Grace Hospital recorded a flat growth with 1 job postings during September 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in September 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 68%, down by 10.53% from August 2022. Mid Level positions with a 22% share, registered an increase of 450% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 8% share, down 55.56% over August 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 2%, recording a month-on-month flat growth.
