Canada’s healthcare industry registered a 6.4% drop in IT hiring activity in August 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring increased by 7.09% in August 2022 when compared with July 2022.

Out of the healthcare industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 0.89% share in August 2022, recording a decrease of 0.1% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in Canada’s healthcare industry’s IT recruitment activity in August 2022

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 100% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada’s healthcare industry in August 2022.

1) Computer and Information Analysts recorded a share of 42.86% in August 2022, registering a 32.26% decline over the previous month.

2) Computer Support Specialists claimed an 18.37% share, an increase of 28.57% over the previous month.

3) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers held a share of 18.37%, registering a 28.57% rise from July 2022.

4) Database and Network Administrators and Architects captured a share of 10.2%, down 37.5% over the previous month.

Top five healthcare companies in Canada’s IT recruitment activity in August 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average flat growth share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada’s healthcare industry during August 2022 over July 2022.

Alberta Health Services posted 32 IT jobs in August 2022 and registered a drop of 17.95% over the previous month, followed by Vancouver Coastal Health with 6 jobs and a 200% growth. McKesson with 5 IT jobs and Trillium Health Partners with 4 jobs, recorded a 66.67% growth and a flat growth, respectively, while Dialogue Health Technologies recorded a flat growth with 1 job postings during August 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in August 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 77.55%, up by 5.56% from July 2022. Entry Level positions with a 16.33% share, registered a flat growth compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Mid Level job ads with 4.08% share, down 84.62% over July 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 2.04%, recording a month-on-month flat growth.
