Canada’s healthcare industry registered a 12.0% rise in IT hiring activity in October 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring increased by 5.22% in October 2022 when compared with September 2022.

Out of the healthcare industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 1% share in October 2022, recording an increase of 0.05% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in Canada’s healthcare industry’s IT recruitment activity in October 2022

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 100% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada’s healthcare industry in October 2022.

1) Computer and Information Analysts recorded a share of 55.88% in October 2022, registering a 31.03% growth over the previous month.

2) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers claimed a 26.47% share, an increase of 260% over the previous month.

3) Computer Support Specialists held a share of 8.82%, registering a 500% rise from September 2022.

4) Database and Network Administrators and Architects captured a share of 4.41%, down 66.67% over the previous month.

Top five healthcare companies in Canada’s IT recruitment activity in October 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 32.61% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada’s healthcare industry during October 2022 over September 2022.

Alberta Health Services posted 48 IT jobs in October 2022 and registered a rise of 33.33% over the previous month, followed by McKesson with 5 jobs and a 66.67% growth. Dialogue Health Technologies with 3 IT jobs and Mackenzie Health with 3 jobs, recorded a flat growth and a 50% growth, respectively, while Vancouver Coastal Health recorded a decline of 60% with 2 job postings during October 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in October 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 72.06%, up by 44.12% from September 2022. Mid Level positions with a 17.65% share, registered an increase of 9.09% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 7.35% share, up 25% over September 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 2.94%, recording a month-on-month increase of 100%.
