The global healthcare industry noticed a 1.8% drop in IT hiring activity in June 2022 over the previous month, led by Intermountain Healthcare’s 21.82% share, according to GlobalData’s Jobs Analytics database.
The healthcare industry’s overall hiring activity declined 4.65% when compared with May 2022.
Noticeably, IT jobs accounted for a 1.28% share of the global healthcare industry’s hiring activity in June 2022, up 0.02% over the last three-month average share.
According to GlobalData, IT job opportunities available at the end of June 2022 were 7.89% lower when compared with the previous month.
The decrease was a result of 19.78% higher job postings as compared to job closures during the month.

Database and Network Administrators and Architects with a share of 30.16% emerged as the top IT occupation in the healthcare hiring activity in June 2022, a 12.13% growth over the previous month. Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers came in second with a share of 27.17% in June 2022, down 25.51% over the previous month.
The other prominent IT roles include Computer and Information Analysts with a 19.95% share in June 2022, a decline of 24.65% over the previous month, and Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with an 11.23% share in June 2022 and a drop of 19.23% over May 2022.
Top five healthcare companies by recruitment activity in June 2022
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 13.08% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of global healthcare industry during June 2022 over May 2022.
Intermountain Healthcare posted 408 IT jobs in June 2022 and registered a rise of 73.62% over the previous month, followed by CVS Health with 140 jobs and a 10.26% decline. Laboratoryof America Holdings with 74 IT jobs and McKesson with 60 jobs, recorded a 17.46% growth and a 53.85% rise, respectively, while Apria Healthcare Group recorded a 70.47% drop with 44 job postings during June 2022.
Regional composition of IT hiring in healthcare industry
North America emerged as the leading region in the global healthcare IT hiring activity in June 2022 with a 94.87% share, which marked a 14.26% drop over the previous month.
Asia-Pacific stood next with 3.21%, registering a 20% month-on-month decline. Europe was the third leading region with a 1.6% share and a 34.78% drop over May 2022.
In the fourth place was South & Central America with a share of 0.16% and a month-on-month drop of 57.14%. Middle East & Africa stood at the bottom of the table with a share of 0.16%, registering a 50% increase over the previous month.
