US-based behavioural healthcare company Acadia Healthcare has opened the Geisinger Behavioral Health Center Northeast in Moosic, Pennsylvania.
The 96-bed behavioural health hospital will offer a full range of inpatient services and intensive outpatient programmes for child, adolescent and adult patients.
It is the first of two projects to be developed under a joint venture between Acadia Healthcare and Geisinger.
The second hospital, the Geisinger Behavioral Health Center Danville, is expected to open in 2025 and will have 96 beds.
Acadia Healthcare and Geisinger have been working together on the projects since March 2021.
Acadia Healthcare CEO Chris Hunter said: “This partnership will bring enhanced treatment options to the community and broaden the scope of services offered to patients and their families.
“Acadia continues to expand upon our joint ventures with health care organisations across the country, providing our behavioural health expertise and mission of treating the whole patient to those communities in need.
“Our mutual goal in these partnerships is always to provide patients and their loved ones with compassionate and high-quality behavioural health care, services and support.”
The Geisinger Behavioral Health Center Northeast will also function as a teaching hospital by providing training to students and residents from Geisinger’s College of Health Sciences, which aims to produce qualified clinicians for the region.
Geisinger serves over one million people through its hospitals, health plan, research institute and educational programmes, while Acadia Healthcare operates a network of 250 behavioural healthcare facilities across the US.
Geisinger president and CEO Jaewon Ryu said: “This hospital and partnership will bring increased access and the highest quality behavioural healthcare to patients across northeastern Pennsylvania.
“I want to thank the numerous people from Geisinger, Acadia, local government and the community for their commitment and passion in making our vision a reality today.
“Pennsylvanians for years to come will benefit from this joint effort.”
