Scheduled to launch this year in spring, the new specialised LGBTQ+ health service is designed to provide integrated and multi-disciplinary care in Sydney and across the state.

It will offer a comprehensive suite of services, including general practice, gender-affirming care, cancer screening services, mental health support, sexual health, drug and alcohol interventions and more.

The new service, which aims to cater to the needs of sexuality and gender diverse people, has been established with a contribution of A$4.2m ($2.7m) from the NSW Government, as part of the NSW LGBTIQ+ Health Strategy 2022-2027.

The creation of Kaleido Health has been a collaborative effort, with Sydney Local Health District playing a key role in the planning and development phase.

This partnership will continue post-launch, with the district providing some clinical services.

Besides, Kaleido Health will work in collaboration with other partners such as the Central and Eastern Sydney Primary Health Network, St Vincent’s Health Network Sydney, as well as other allied health practitioners and health organisations to further enhance the service offerings.

Frost*Collective, a design agency and long-term partner of ACON, has led the development of the name and branding for the centre.

With recruitment for key operational roles set to begin shortly, health professionals are encouraged to register their interest through the website.

ACON deputy CEO and Kaleido Health project lead Karen Price said: “With some services provided by partner organisations such as Local Health Districts and Networks, Kaleido Health is a service that will benefit from expertise in system, in a for-purpose service designed around health issues we know our communities need most.

“Through Kaleido Health, we aim to directly improve access to appropriate, safe, inclusive and person-centred LGBTQ+ health care.”
