US-based AdventHealth has announced the commencement of construction on a cancer institute at Winter Garden, a $43.2m investment aimed at enhancing services in West Orange and South Lake counties, Florida, US.

Construction on the AdventHealth Cancer Institute is anticipated to conclude by summer 2026 and will address the rising demand for specialised cancer treatments in the region.

The new three-storey, 60,000ft² AdventHealth Cancer Institute will be situated on the campus of AdventHealth Winter Garden.

It will offer a range of cancer treatment services, encompassing radiation and medical oncology.

AdventHealth Winter Garden CEO Kari Vargas said: “We recognise the importance of providing high-quality, whole-person cancer care close to home.

“The new space has been designed to prioritise patient comfort, dignity and healing, ensuring that every individual receives the care and support they need to feel whole.”

The facility will also provide advanced therapies, such as immunotherapy and personalised and targeted treatments customised to the genetic profiles of individual patients.

A team of board-certified oncologists, specialised and trained nurse navigators will work in unison to deliver patient-centred care.

The institute aims to provide a holistic approach to cancer treatment and also includes the Eden Spa and Boutique.

This spa will offer tailored services and products to help patients dealing with lymphedema, hair loss, and post-mastectomy requirements.

The design of the AdventHealth Cancer Institute is being undertaken by ESa, with Brasfield & Gorrie serving as the general contractor.

In Winter Garden, the need for advanced cancer care services, imaging, and radiation therapy is anticipated to increase by 2027, according to healthcare consulting agency Sg2.

The development follows AdventHealth’s acquisition this year of ShorePoint Health Port Charlotte and its associated services in Florida.
