US-based healthcare provider AdventHealth has begun construction of the new Winter Haven Emergency Room (ER) and hospital site in Winter Haven, Florida.
The initial phase of construction will include a 20,000ft² ER with 24 beds, with future plans for a 192-bed hospital and medical office building on the 42-acre site.
Expected to be completed next year, the ER will include triage rooms, 24 exam rooms and 20 additional private rooms.
It will provide X-rays, lab services, computerised tomography (CT) scans and ultrasound scans among other services.
AdventHealth Polk Market president and CEO Tim Clark said: “We are very excited to be taking this first step to further expand our footprint of emergency care services here in Winter Haven.
“The community has told us there is a need for convenient, world-class, whole-person care here in the south-east area of Winter Haven and AdventHealth is proud to be able to provide those services.

AdventHealth recently held a topping-out ceremony for its AdventHealth Riverview Hospital in West Florida, which is due to open next year.
Earlier this year, the group broke ground on a hospital at its Lenexa City Center campus in Kansas.
