Allurion Technologies, a US company focused on obesity reduction, has expanded its partnership with Weight Doctors, a private clinics group specialising in weight loss in Germany.

The collaboration will see the expanded use of Allurion’s Virtual Care Suite (VCS) digital platform in 2024.

This expansion follows the successful use of the VCS by Weight Doctors in managing over 2,000 patients in 2023.

The extended agreement seeks to broaden VCS usage among new patients and locations this year, including the Netherlands and the UK.

The patients encompass those treated with the Allurion Balloon as well as those undergoing bariatric surgery and using GLP-1 anti-obesity medications.

Allurion founder and CEO Shantanu Gaur said: “We believe digital solutions will benefit significantly from the rapidly expanding market opportunity in weight loss, and we aim to leverage our decade of expertise to be at the forefront with customers.

“Our growth with Weight Doctors underscores the power that Allurion’s digital platform and suite of AI tools have in fulfilling this need for clinics serving large volumes of patients.”

A study by Allurion found that 87% of providers who used VCS reported increased patient accountability, 88% noted improved operational efficiency, and 82% observed enhanced patient engagement.

The launch of Coach Iris, Allurion’s 24/7 AI-powered weight loss coach, further enhances the VCS’s capabilities in providing continuous coaching and guidance across various care modalities.

Additionally, the company has appointed entrepreneur Brian Conyer to lead the commercialisation of Allurion’s digital assets.

To capitalise on future opportunities, Brian Conyer will leverage his experience in healthcare B2B and B2C SaaS sales.

Weight Doctors Group CEO and managing partner Alexander P Glaeser said: “Allurion’s Virtual Care Suite has been transformational for our business.

“Since the global launch of Coach Iris in October 2023, the software has enabled us to meet and exceed our patients’ needs in a more timely manner.

“The positive reception of Coach Iris within our innovative and minimally-invasive weight loss procedures reflects Weight Doctors Group’s commitment to enhancing patient experiences and continuously working towards optimising patient outcomes.”
