Amazon has completed its previously announced acquisition of primary care provider One Medical in a deal valued at nearly $3.9bn.

Together, the companies will help deliver better health care to more people within a better care team environment.

Amazon Health Services senior vice-president Neil Lindsay said: “We’re on a mission to make it dramatically easier for people to find, choose, afford, and engage with the services, products, and professionals they need to get and stay healthy, and coming together with One Medical is a big step on that journey.

“One Medical has set the bar for what a quality, convenient, asnd affordable primary care experience should be like. We’re inspired by their human-centered, technology-forward approach and excited to help them continue to grow and serve more patients.”

In July last year, Amazon signed a definitive merger agreement to acquire One Medical for deepening its healthcare presence.

The human-centered, technology-powered US company One Medical makes it easier for patients to schedule appointments, renew prescriptions by combining in-person care in inviting offices in the country with virtual care and digital health services.

Patients will also be able to access up-to-date health records and advance health outcomes.

One Medical CEO Amir Dan Rubin said: “One Medical has been on a mission to help transform health care through its human-centered and technology-powered model to delight people with better health, better care, and better value, within a better team environment.

“We now set our sights on delivering even further positive impacts for consumers, employers, care teams, and health networks, as we join Amazon with its long-term orientation, history of invention, and passion for reimagining a better future.”
