Indian private hospital chain Apollo has named Dr Madhu Sasidhar as the president and CEO of its hospital business.

Dr Sasidhar’s appointment is the culmination of a planned transition that commenced with his joining Apollo as chief strategy officer in October last year.

He will replace the hospitals’ outgoing president Dr K Hari Prasad, who is stepping down after a 27-year stint at the organisation.

In the new role, Dr Sasidhar will be responsible for overseeing Apollo’s hospital business and will work on efforts to offer enhanced clinical outcomes along with improved patient care experience.

Apollo Hospitals Group founder chairman Dr Prathap Chandra Reddy said: “I am pleased to welcome Dr Madhu Sasidhar to the Apollo family.

“He brings global experience along with a unique combination of administrative excellence, deep clinical understanding and technology expertise. These will be instrumental in Apollo’s next phase of rapid growth.”
