Aultman Hospital in Ohio has selected Evolv Technology’s AI-based weapons detection solution, Evolv Express, to enhance security at its high-traffic areas.

Evolv Express will be deployed at the hospital’s main entrance and emergency department.

The aim is to address the growing concern of workplace violence in healthcare facilities as well as create a safer ambience for patients and employees.

Besides, this technology will integrate with the hospital’s existing security measures, including security cameras and access control.

Aultman Hospital security coordinator Darin B. Baad said: “We needed a weapons detection solution that wouldn’t impact people trying to get to work or to an appointment, and Evolv was the perfect answer.

“Unfortunately, hospitals are facing increased levels of violence, and we need to take steps to protect our environment without stopping and checking every person individually as they walk in.”

According to the vendor, Evolv Express uses sensors and AI to detect threats accurately and rapidly, allowing people to pass through security screening without requiring to open bags or empty pockets.

Evolv vice president of healthcare Jason Grellner said: “This is an exciting partnership because Aultman Hospital is the first to take advantage of Evolv’s Genetec integration capability.

“More and more hospitals are looking to add weapons detection screening for their facilities, and we believe Evolv will help provide some peace of mind to patients, doctors, nurses, and hospital staff.”
