US-based healthcare staffing company Aya Healthcare has acquired Polaris AI, a machine learning platform designed to predict future patient volume and staffing levels.
The platform was developed by SwitchPoint Ventures, a custom-creator of AI-driven business solutions, in partnership with anesthesiology provider PhyMed Healthcare.

It uses proprietary machine learning algorithms to forecast patient volume and staffing levels, enabling greater efficiency and cost savings for healthcare organisations.
Aya Healthcare president and CEO Alan Braynin said: “This acquisition further bolsters our AI capabilities and expands our ability to help healthcare organisations achieve cost savings through optimised core labour staffing.”
Using machine learning algorithms, Polaris AI aims to inform clinicians of staffing needs while offering tools for systems to better distribute internal resources and plan alternative schedules.
The platform is intended to reduce physician and nurse costs for organisations while improving patient care and satisfaction by predicting case volumes.
